Artistic Statement

I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and studied Theater Arts at the California Institute of the Arts, graduating in 2013.

As a filmmaker, my intention is to serve a character's narrative in the most creative way possible. The narrative of a character does not always coexist with the plot of the film or play.
There is a degree of exploring those conflicts, vulnerabilities, and dilemmas with visuals, light, sound, and movement, and this often lends a fuller picture of who these characters are.

Characters construct multiple spaces to deal with their troubles, and make sense of their world. Giving these spaces as much tactility as possible allows each character (and actor) a sense of security and safety. It also gives permission for audiences to reach out and connect.

I not only want to create a full space for the character to live in, but a full space for my cast and crew to work and create in. I feel that is one of many responsibilities a director has, and one I take seriously on each project.

As a director, I am a leader and guide, I am an explorer of worlds, an advocate for characters, and a compass of dreams.
